Decorate for the Chistmas Holidays

November 15, 2019

Christmas is one of the only occasions that welcomes glitter and glitz, lights, garland, ribbons and ornaments, so lets Decorate for the Chistmas Holidays.  How exciting and welcoming to have a fully decorated home for the holidays.  Several focal points include:

While a spectacle in itself is the start.   Select a theme and run with it.  Decorate in top hats, red ribbons, black and red top hat picks (my favorite and you can stick picks anywhere around the house, especially plants or besides candles).  A black or red TOP HAT is the topper and compliments the tree perfectly.  Other themes are red, white and blue, to honor our military.  It is very simple to find lights, ornaments and garland in these colors.

One year when it was rather hot in Florida, I selected a “beachy” theme with ornaments such as coral, seahorses, crabs, and even found a Santa Claus sitting in a lifeguard chair!  The light blue tinsel hung ever so delicately wrapped the tree and made it one of my all time favorites.  The tree skirt had a sandy texture and was embossed with MERRY CHRISTMAS which just tied everything together!

Beautiful garland and ribbon take this spotlight for Decorate for the Chistmas Holidays.  Whatever theme you have selected for your tree, use for the mantel to accentuate the rest of your house.   Garland with shells, starfish and sand dollars in between beautiful light blue ornaments and twinkling white lights really grabs attention.  Even using the traditional green and red ribbons, ornaments and berries on your mantel always is a family favorite.

Simple, yet elegant. Select 2-3 colors from the theme you have chosen and creatively decorate the table.  For example, red, white and gold.  Line the middle of the table with white candles atop gold mercury glass candle holders, which reflect light, thereby making the table glow.  On top of the candles, carefully place beautiful ‘see through’ red glass hurricane holders that provide a pop of color and allow the candles to flicker.  White plates are always fresh and bright and can be placed on red and gold charges/placemats.  A larger charger for the bottom incorporates all three colors, red, gold and white.

For example, a pretty gold place mat on the bottom, next, a glamorous red velvet charger and then the color of perfection – white plates with gold engraving “Blessed, Thankful, Grateful” become the dramatic masterpiece to complete your table.  Tables or buffets can be simply decorated with Red and gold trees and peppermint sticks for a bold look.

#4.  The front door, the windows, and the yard

Can be adorned with red and green wreaths, mistletoe, and ribbons. Have fun, get bold, be dramatic and transform your home into a warm welcoming winter wonderland!
