It was a teen moms and babies home. Co workers and friends from church help me put together items for the teens and their babies.
There was 16 and 17 year old girls with babies from 2 months to 2 years. They were all there for a variety of reason. Most of them foster children who got pregnant and needed a safe place to go.
As one girl opened her gifts of hand me down clothes she couldn’t wait to set up a job interview to wear the new pieces. She talked about how great they looked and she just adored them.
Another girl with a bag of beautiful items including a hand me down Louis Vuiton from me, didn’t even make a facial expression. She was hard and sad and her story is heartbreaking. From home to home she continues to find placement from the court. Recently pregnant with a baby girl she will be in this home another month until she turns 18 and has to leave. My niece who was 6 had no idea of her story but sat next to her and talked to her all night long. Children so have a way of knowing exactly what’s going on in the hearts of people.
Serving in the United States was so beautiful especially in the hometown I grew up in! I recommend the children’s home society to give back anytime you are able!
My favorite part was when we were leaving I have girls one final gift of a Christmas card with a gift card in it. They were so excited talking about what they would buy. One girl had an iTunes gift card but didn’t have an iPhone. She looked at the card saddened unsure of what to do with it. She asked would someone trade with me? I don’t have an iPhone. She looked so sad and all night was in this sad spirit. My brother pulled out cash and passed it along to her and asked “will this help?” She LIT up!!! It was so beautiful. Her smile was huge and I was so glad to see it.
We left the hot chocolate, cookies, gifts, hugs, love and even the angel hat and Santa hats for them to enjoy.
You don’t have to have anything special expect time. ❤️❤️❤️
