Work out

Y’all it has been days of down time but emotionally I feel drained!! Preparing for Irma who couldn’t make up her mind was exhausting! Today I am feeling so beyond thankful to be getting back in to the swing of things – and that definitely included hitting the gym!! 

I get some amazing questions from y’all but more recently is the question of my workout regimen. I once worked out because I was afraid of gaining weight (a whole different topic on its own!), but the more I learned, I found that is so far from the reality. 

We work out to be healthy. We work out because it gives us energy. We work out because it is good for our hearts, minds and as a result we will see the physical benefits from it. 

I used to work out seven days a week. I had lots of big muscles. It was taking a lot of protein down in shakes and bars, and really I had the time to spend two hours everyday in the gym. 

Since then I have gotten married, settled down a little bit, and have allocated more of time in different areas – my husband calls it balance. So for the last two years I have been going to the gym 2-3 times a week. 

THAT is HUGE when you go from working out 7 days a week to 2-3 days. That’s more than half. 

I didn’t gain weight. I didn’t get fat. 

Which concludes for me that 90% of what happens to our core happens outside the gym. What we drink, what we eat, how we rest, what we think. 

I teach Body Pump two days a week, it’s an hour of strength training and then I add another day of cardio. But I eat fairly healthy – happy to share my menu items if you’d like. 

And I drink A LOT of water. Just like this picture I have to carry around water in order to drink it. Sometimes I even buy the expensive FIJI water to remind myself to drink water!! 

So, eating well, drink even better, and maintaining a good balance in the gym with strength training and cardio is currently successful for me. 

Also, sometimes I buy new workout gear to jump start me and keep me interested. I also keep a good granola bar handy for those early morning work outs – it helps me get up knowing I have a treat waiting for me hahaha 

And speaking of – I love what I’m wearing to the gym in the pic below. I even wore the top afterwards with a pair of jeans to grab lunch 😜
