The Greatest Love Story

February 6, 2017

There’s no doubt I have one true love who can love me like no other. He listens whenever I need to talk, cry, get advice. He is always there graciously, lovingly when I fail, say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing.  He’s the lover of my soul. His love is always chasing me. He is always good. Despite my circumstances, He is so good. He is perfect. The only one. No one this side of Heaven will be able to love me like Jesus loves me. But I’m so grateful to say I have a man who tries. Next to Jesus, I’m beyond blessed with a man who tries to love me like He does – sacrificially and unconditionally.
The greatest love story I’ve ever read was that God loved us so much He sent His only Son for us that we could have eternal life. We are sinned, flawed beings who could not stand in front of a Holy God when we die and live in Heaven without Jesus dying to cover us. So we have this example, of sacrifice, of humility, of love. And he can teach us how to love like this. Love that doesn’t give up. Love that sees the best. Love that hopes and believes.  Love that doesn’t waver with society’s ever changing popular thing.

Love that keeps giving and love that teaches us. We can Love others because He first loved us. Understanding His love allows us to go beyond what we think we can do, allows us to love when we shouldn’t, and is changing individuals, homes, cities and nations.

It’s His love. It’s the glue. It’s the answer. When something clicks and we marinate in the Love of our creator, the one who made us, knit us together in our Moms womb, the one who knows us, deeply knows us, every thought, every tear that falls, the one who went to the cross, beaten, humiliated, hung and died for us. Just for you. Just for me.

For this very reason we can love those who don’t deserve it. We can forgive those who don’t deserve it. We can do HARD things. We can fight. We can dream. We can stretch. We can choose.

Every day I am learning.
