Nicaragua – the place where monkey’s swing, horse is a popular form of transportation and the juices are to die for! I have never seen a sky light up so beautifully. And the sunsets that drop against the ocean and mountains are indescribable. The natural innocence of the town will leave you in awe and wonder and the kind people just make my heart melt. This little town, just a short plane ride from where I live has become one of my favorite places on the earth.
February 17, 2017. For me it was an ordinary day here, good coffee, couple of meetings, visits with the locals, time on the gorgeous beach. I was taking these beautiful pictures at sunset after a long day, getting ready to go to go to my favorite restaurant, I was texting my family on a group chat when an eagle went flying over my head. It was gorgeous, big wings, and so close to me. I said baby look look look!
I turned around to Luis saying look look look and a beautiful diamond was in my face. “Will you marry me my love?” I couldn’t talk. He says “Mi Vida hermosa will you marry me?” I couldn’t stop smiling I was in shock and he says “is that a yes?” I said “yes!!!” Yes of course I will marry the most amazing man on this earth. The man who has supported me, loved me, and most importantly demonstrated how Christ loves me through his patience and unconditional love. He has pursued me at my best and loves me at my worst. His love shattered my Pharisee thinking (the ancient Jews who had a strict observance of the law and rules) and every day is helping make me a better woman, daughter, sister and friend.
He was video recording and I was in shock! We laughed and held each other. It was right under the gorgeous statue of Jesus. He held my hand up and said I did it right before you Jesus. I said so we are in it forever then. And he said yes my love that is the idea 😃
Then we went in the tiny sanctuary on the top of the mountain and prayed a beautiful prayer over our relationship, one another and our families. There have been so many scriptures to help me, encourage me and carry me through the rough spots, prior to our relationship and of course during. If I could sum up what I’ve learned so far I could say this:
Trust God, not man or an institution, with everything Prov 3:5-6. Judge people less, and seek to understand them more Matthew 7:1. Forget the past and keep moving forward Philippians 3:14. Forgiveness can never run out Matthew 18:22. Our bodies are meant to be a holding place for the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 6:19 Practice the pause to get better responses Psalm 32:7. Men need respect from their women 1 Peter 3:1. The moment they feel disrespected through our tone response or body language, we’ve got a problem. Life can be tough so appreciate the good moments John 16:33 . Heaven may only be a breath away. Don’t play it too safe, take a chance. Step out of the boat Matthew 14:29. Without faith it’s impossible to please God Hebrews 11:6. Perfect love makes all fear go away 1 John 4:18 His grace is enough to cover our mistakes and issues 2 Cor 12:9 Love is not just a word that gets tossed around it’s an action it is patient and kind and forgets all wrongs it doesn’t keep record of wrongs and it doesn’t ever give up 1 Cor 13:4-8
Thank you for your continued support and love on my journey, some over a life time and some just for a couple of days 💜💞😍
What’s your best marriage advice?
Ok for those of y’all who scrolled right to the UPDATE, I do that too. So, this was originally published on Feb 17, 2017 the weekend Luis proposed.
Since then…. The video has been lost, or accidentally deleted, but our love has not. I’ve mentioned in multiple occasions for him to redo the proposal and get it back but it just hasn’t been much of a priority hahahah We are almost two years in marriage and learning so much. About life, love, ourselves and one another.
On most days I could never be more happy and even on the challenging days I could never be more grateful for love that’s centered around grace and God’s love.
Love never fails.
